The doggie-door flap is a photo of Venice, Italy.  On 29th Street in Astoria, down the block from the Immaculate Conception Church, which is known to the neighborhood as Immac.  As in, “Immac is Wack!”  Even if you weren’t Catholic, you probably dealt with the Immaculate Conception Youth Program, ICYP, because they run the Little League.  I can’t say what it’s like now, but back in the day, the field was full of rocks and all the coaches were crazy fat guidos.  In a good way.

The Hall of Justice in Ozone Park is yet another defunct Comic Shop in Queens. There are very few left.  Silver Age in Astoria, Comic Den in Kew Gardens (last legs), Comic Book Heaven in Sunnyside (last legs), Royal Collectibles in Forest Hills.  There’s Montasy in Forest Hills too and the completely wiling Duel Zone underneath the Hong Kong Supermarket in Flushing — but Duel Zone is mostly an ultra-insane super-serious Magic Card and Yu-Gi-Oh tournament spot.

Uptown they play dominos, in the LES - selo.  In Flushing, Queens it’s mahjong.  When I tried to get close to this cluster they just froze up and refused to play.  On Kissena Blvd. heading into Oakland Gardens.
