At Jardin de China Restaurant in Corona, you can get a mixture of Spanish and Chinese food. The baked fish and shrimp with black bean rice won my heart. The rub seasoning on the seafood will rock your world.

Here’s the Ecuadorian street vendor at Roosevelt and 80th street, steaming her tamales using corn cobs as the docks. It gave the tamales even more corn flavor - this was the first time I’ve seen this method… got me excited.
Terraza is one of the coolest bars in Queens or anywhere else in NYC. This is last night with the Alex Brown Quartet, playing on the suspended platform above the bar. Just about every night of the week has something awesome going on, from Latin jazz or folk to readings of a sort. You’ll dig.

Buon Natale! This wonderful yuletide window display from Irene Debenedittis and her sisters over at Leo’s Latticini, aka Mama’s of Corona reminds me of how my own mother decked the halls for Christmas. She was a prolific baker, too.Though I must say she never baked bread in the shape of Santa Claus. P.S. if you are looking to bu me a stocking stuffer I would appreciate some fresh mozzarella.
Just a few blocks away from the 7 train on 111th Street on the way to Flushing Meadows Corona Park are a few street vendors. If you get hungry, try a stick of barbecued chicken. It’s simply seasoned and for an extra kick throw some hot sauce on it. If that’s not enough, add a side of salchipapas (hot dogs and french fries) and wash it down with some horchata.
