Look out for Singlecut Beer, the first micro-brewery in Queens since prohibition, to be debuting their beers around the city by December. I took a tour around the facility to meet the guys, and let me tell you something — this is serious.
This looks interesting (and decently close to where I live!), Max Bratwurst Und Bier, advertising bratwurst, currywurst, schnitzel, frikadelle, and leberkase, as well as sports of many nations, is coming soon. This area of Astoria is kind of the end of the tracks, it’d be great if some sort of draw were there. Hopefully they won’t upset members of the Greatest Generation around there.
The Queens Kickshaw has gained national recognition (in less than a year) for serving some of the country’s most incredible grown-up grilled cheese sandwiches, an eclectic array of craft beers and wines, and gourmet coffees & beverages (from V60 pour-over coffee to vinegar-cordial sodas called shrubs). Pictured are three of my favorite items, the Gouda (on brioche with black bean hummus, guava jam, and pickled jalapeños), the Mac & Cheese (with cheddar, gruyere, smoked mozzarella, & french beans), and the miso-mustard pickles (with everything from white beets to quail eggs).
